GEM SUGARS LIMITED is an ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 was incorporated on 6th March, 1995 to set up a new green- field sugar factory along with co-generation plant in Kundargi Village, Biligi Taluk, Bagalkote District, in the State of Karnataka. This area has been classified as high sugar recovery zone by the Government of India on account of its favorable climatic conditions for cultivation of sugarcane crop.
The Company has successfully commissioned its sugar plant of capacity 4000 TCD during the year 2003 and that of co-generation plant of capacity 16.5 MW in the first phase during 2002. The first phase capacity expansion of sugar plant to 6500 TCD was commissioned during 2009 and is in operation. The capacity of the co-generation plant from 16.5 MW to 22.5 MW has also been commissioned during December 2011 and is in operation. The company has established, 60 KLPD ethanol-cum-distillery plant in the sugar complex in the year December 2017. The company expanded the capacity of our 60KLPD Distillery cum Ethanol Plant to 90 KLPD which is in operation during 2021-22 sugar season.
The layout has been designed in such a way so that the expansion of crushing capacity up to 10000 TCD is possible in the existing complex itself. Recognizing the fuel value of bagasse which is a waste product generated in the sugar plant, the company has propose to set up a co-generation plant which is expandable to
52.5 MW and Distillery cum Ethanol plant to 120 KLPD capacity in the sugar complex itself.

It is an integrated modern sugar plant to fully utilise the surrounding areas sugarcane production and to achieve a totally green energy complex with a view to enhance the environment and ecology of the region. It is the company’s endeavour to protect the farmer’s economic condition by educating them on scientific methods of cultivation and constantly upgrading the technologies with special focus on high efficiency and maximum sugar recovery and save the fuel and energy at every point by introducing innovative methods and constant monitoring.
The company is not only meeting the requirement of sugar for the domestic consumption but also exporting sugar during surplus times to earn the valuable foreign exchange for India.
The company in order to fulfil its social obligations towards the farming community who cultivate and supply sugarcane, has taken various welfare measures in and around the sugar plant for the benefit of the farmers by conducting medical camp, etc. The company has already implemented roof top solar unit at factory of 20 KW power generation renewable energy project.
